  • Dr. Katie Hejna

    Dr. Hejna approaches therapy with curiosity, warmth, and patience, grounding her work in psychodynamic theory, neuropsychology and evidence-based interventions. She is honored to be a part of her client’s journey towards healing, repair and change, and believes this process can only occur in the context of a trusting relationship.

    Over the years, Dr. Hejna has treated and assessed individuals experiencing relationship difficulties, anxiety, mood disorders, life transitions, Autism Spectrum Disorders, loss and trauma, school avoidance, separation anxiety, attention and executive functioning problems, and learning disorders. Particular areas of interest for Dr. Hejna include play therapy, neuropsychological testing and Mindfulness. She has specific expertise conducting and supervising complex neuropsychological assessments and is certified in the ADOS assessment.

    Dr. Hejna earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin- Madison and completed her Masters and Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. She has gained experience in a variety of settings including inpatient mental health, elementary and high schools, and outpatient group practice. She has also served as an adjunct professor at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology.

    Dr. Hejna believes that when we feel truly known and accepted by another, we can develop new ways of understanding ourselves and our story, leading to symptom reduction and long lasting change.

  • Dr. Adam Selkirk

    Dr. Selkirk approaches his clinical work with the belief that all human beings have infinite worth, and works to support each person’s path towards recognizing and experiencing that worth within themselves. Having worked in the mental health field for over 20 years with children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples, Dr. Selkirk has utilized this philosophy to guide the process of therapy and assessment with individuals facing a wide range of challenges, including autism spectrum disorders, substance use disorders, struggles with mood and anxiety, and relationship problems.

    Dr. Selkirk uses a therapeutic approach that is grounded in psychodynamic theory with an emphasis on attachment, interpersonal neurobiology, and relationally-based interventions. Dr. Selkirk believes that long-lasting, positive change occurs when an individual is able to express their true self and to have all aspects of the individual be met with respect, acceptance, and warmth. While grounded in this dynamic approach, Dr. Selkirk also values and utilizes principles from various approaches and philosophies, such as the cognitive-behavioral approach and mindfulness practices.

    Dr. Selkirk earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Minnesota and completed his doctoral degree at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. In addition to his extensive clinical experience, Dr. Selkirk has also taught as a graduate school professor, where he has had the sacred honor of educating and training future generations of aspiring psychologists. Dr. Selkirk has presented at numerous local and national conferences, and served as a mental health consultant for several organizations who treat children with special needs.
